WOW how time just goes far too fast with a toddler!
Reid is now 13 months old. We are loving everybit of it.

I am going to be a SAHM (stay at home mom) here in a few week, Im praying this will give me time to do the things i love again. Updating this is one thing I'm going to work REALLY hard at doing. I want to go back and update each month, if i can.

So on that note, im sure it will be a few weeks before i get to it. BUT, I will be back SOON!!!

30 day shred

So today is the day! I started the 30 day shred, and oh my goodness!
I thought I was going to die. I was swimming a bunch before i was pregnant, a little during, then nothing towards the end. So needless to say, Im OUTTA SHAPE!

Reid has been rather cranky today, and we went for a nap in his swing and I took my 30 minutes and did my first day. Now I feel like jello! I hope to lose 30 LBS in the next 6 months, so I need to keep motivated and get my body back, Actually, back to what it was YEARS ago.

I went through some depression years ago when i entered college, and my family moved out of state. I seem to have gained a good amount of weight and i did not really notice. I was working full time, going to school full time and living on my own with roommates (all boys) so that did not help. It was hard trying to stay focused on the things i needed to, while all the boys were just working m-f 7am - 4pm, I was busy ever day with work or school or both.

I was broke, and most of the time would not eat till i got home for dinner because ryan would offer to buy it. Some times it was either eat, or pay for gas money to get to school, 70 miles away. So I stayed true to school and screwed my body up in a BIG way.

So now that my life is "perfect" in my eyes, I need to get "me" back.

I tired of feeling insecure about my body, and feeling like i have lost "me". I know im not as outgoing as I once was, and I know its because i dont feel comfortable with me, and do not want attention on me at all.

So now that i have totally outed myself and put the pressure on to fine "me" again. Im really REALLY ready for this.
I want to do it for my husband who knows what i once was, and really would love to have the person he fell in love with back. Im so blessed that he is so supportive, and really loves "ME" for me and not my body. BUT, I know he really would love to have it back just as much as i do.

I want to do it for my son. I want to be outgoing so I dont hold him back in any way. I want to be beautiful on the outside as i am on the inside. I know it sounds superficial, but Im not a really girly girl person, im always sporty, and i want to just look better for me and my family, and for my health. I want to be able to play and run with him (i can, im not that bad) but i want to do it and look good doing it.

One of my biggest motivators, PICTURES! I HATE PICTURES OF ME!!
I dont want to have no pictures of my family because im fat! So i want to look good in pictures again!!

Well Reid is calling (Fussing) so i got to go! But I have 30 days to lose 20 LBS and i hope i at least get close!!
Wish me Luck!!

- Kim

1 month old

Reid,
We have made it to 1 month and i cant not believe how fast it has gone, and how much you have grown. Each day you amaze me on the things that you can do.
You are very much a morning person, I guess you get that from both mommy and daddy. Although mommy would love to get some morning sleep that is later than 6 am.

You are sleeping well, well when you decide to go to sleep. We have started giving you a bath between 7 and 7:30, give you a bottle right after (that mommy worked so hard to pump so daddy can feed you, and you suck it down faster than i can get it) Then we try to put you to bed.

The first day this was amazing, worked like a charm, then you slept for 4 hours, fed, then another 4 hours, then fed, then 2 hours and it was 6:50 am, so you were ready to start the day.

From then, things don't go as planned, we give you a bath, fed you a bottle, pat you and you are wide awake. Daddy did his first night of trying to put you to bed, he was so surprised it took over an hour to get you to be asleep enough to have you put down! (can you tell how does it more often) :)

As soon as you were born you were wide awake, looking around. Everyone was so impressed how alert you were. I could tell you wanted to see everything that was happening around you. Now you are really focusing on people and objects, you love looking at the fan and lights.
It is so nice to know that you are beginning to know who we are now, I know you knew by our voices, but now you look at us and smile!!
IT'S THE BEST THING EVERY!

Today is Sunday March 14, 2010. While you were in your best mood (in the morning) I was making silly faces with you, and you gave me the best smile ever! A BIG ONE, not just a gas smile but a real smile! It was the best feeling ever!

You had your 1 month doctors appointment this week. You are in the 50% on Height and Weight. You are now 21.5 inches, and weighing in at 9 LBS 6 OZ. You have gained 2 pounds in the first month. That amazes me. You are getting so big.

I am trying to think of anything else i need to update on, but nothing is coming to mind, Maybe because daddy has you in the computer room, and he is having a heck of a time keeping you happy, so i think my mind is not "here" Its amazing how all i can think about is your needs, and you. No longer do i get anytime for "me" but, Oh how its so worth it!

I love you with all my heart and it really amazes me on how someone could change "me" in ways i could have never imagined!
You are really the light of my life, and dont know how i ever lived with out you!

Pictures will be uploaded when i get to my other computer! color: rgb(102, 51, 51);font-size:100%;" >WOW. I have been waiting a long time to sit and write this story...

I was due on 2/5/2010. I was having no real signs of labor, and on Monday the 8th my doctor set up an induction for the 11th.

On the night of the 9th and 10th i began having contractions that would get the the 5 min apart and either stop or get back to 10 minutes apart. On thursday morning around 3 am I was in true labor, I labored at home while Ryan got as much sleep as he could. I went back and forth from the bathtub to the bed, walking about the house. The contractions were getting hard to breath through and i would end up on the floor on my hands and knees, with my head on my pillow.

At 6:30 am I woke Ryan and told him to get ready we were going in. I arrived at L&D at 8:00 am. I was placed in a room, and they begin checking me in. It was 9:45 before i was checked to see how dilated I was. As of Monday i was 3 CM and 70% effaced. The doctor checked me and I was 3-4 CM dilated and 90% effaced.

I was contracting every 3-4 minutes and they were making me really uncomfortable. They started me on Pitocin at 10 am, which i was really not wanting to do. Once that kicked in things were getting a move on. I wanted to go for a natural (no meds) birth, but as strong as the Pitocin was making the contractions, they were off the charts, and every 1.5 minutes.

My birth plan did not happen, I got to 6 CM and 100% effaced and i was so tired and could not wait any longer, I took the Epidural. At first i was super sad about having to do so, but Knew i had to for myself, i was way to tired from being up for almost 3 days, i knew i would not be able to make it to pushing.

Once the epidural was in place, it took off the edge of each contraction although the pressure was insane. Each contraction still had me breathing to make it to the next.

I noticed that after the epidural that my right leg was so numb i was getting bad anxiety about it. My left leg was fine, actually i was able to feel it 100%, which made me more scared. I was laying on my left side, they had me switch sides and the babies heart rate would drop. So the left side it had to be.

An hour before pushing they turned off the epidural. I was having such bad anxiety that i needed it to be off. at 10 before 5 PM they said we were going to be getting ready to push. We waited for the baby to come a bit further down so at 5:10 PM we started pushing!

This was the hardest thing i have ever done in my whole life, I had my mom, sister and Ryan with me at this time. (birth plan was to have just Ryan) really nothing went by my birth plan. [:(]

after 1 hour 5 min, at 6:15 PM on 2-11-10 Reid Taylor Osment was born.

He was 7 LBS, 3 OZ and 21 inches long, and perfect in every way. He scored amazing and took right to the breast feeding! I think this is the only thing in my birth plan that went my way!! I have a bunch to update one, and really I have no idea where I left off at. So I'm going to just give one big update on how my pregnancy ended.

At 38 weeks I was 2 CM dilated and 50% effaced. This was a good thing, I had hopes to delivery this baby boy at any time, considering 37 weeks is full term!
My doctor had stripped my membranes in hopes to keep things moving.

At 39 weeks I still at the same. I then came to 40 weeks and was 3 CM dilated and 70% Effaced, my doctor stripped my membranes for the 3rd time, this time I had strong cramps right away, and was praying this would move things alone.

While we were already at 40 weeks, my doctor decided to set an eviction date, This baby was going to be here on 2-11-10 if he does not come on his own before this time.

I was excited to know that this was just about it. I was enjoying being pregnant, I was really not too uncomfortable. The thing that was uncomfortable was getting off the couch or outta bed, but other than that, I was moving great.

While I was in my 39th week and due at any time, Ryan had an issue with his vertigo. This is something that has been getting worse each year, and it is truly scary! The Sunday before our friday due date, Ryan wanted to go dirtbike riding with friends, so we went.

He rode for a few hours, and then we loaded up, and started to drive home. That is when it hit him, he needed to lay down right away, and I drove us home. This set in hard and super fast. By the time I got him home he was crashed out, unable to even stand. I got him into bed, and that is where he stayed for 1 full week! So it was a blessing I did not go into labor, I was really scared that i would go into labor and Ryan would miss the birth of our son. but he pulled through it Just in the nick of time, We were 41 weeks when little Reid was born!

So moving on to my birth story!

Its been a while...

So its been a while since we have had an update, so this will be a little long.
We had a Level II on the CPC's on little ones brain. The results looked GREAT! It looks like they are all gone! We could not be happier about this. He is growing so big so fast. We had the ultrasound at 29 weeks, he was measuring 2 LBS 11 OZ.

Today I am 31 weeks 5 days. Almost 8 months already! I am so excited to get things moving along when it comes to buy him things, and getting the nursery completed. Speaking of Nursery, this week we have finished the painting of his room. Here are a few pictures of the way it has turned out. In this picture i have just the lights in the Crown Molding we installed. I LOVE THIS! its so perfect to give off just enough light without being blinded by having to turn on lights. I cant wait to come in and check on him while he is sleeping, or just sit there and watch him sleep while these lights are on. i know i will not wake him up, or kill my self trying to get in to the room in the dark! I am so super excited.
we are going with my parents this weekend to order it, It's going to take about 8 weeks for us to get it, but it is so worth the wait. I here is a picture of what it looks like!

We bought sage green and brown sheets, Sage green bumper, and dust ruffle. The other night I was on the couch watching TV, Ryan came and put his head on my belly looking up at me. All of a sudden, a BIG wham! He was punched in the face! Ryan's eyes got big, and asked me if i did that! HAHAH, I cant make him do it!! Since then ryan has really been warming up to the belly touching and he actually talked to the baby for the first time, on his own! It was really cute! He makes my heart melt!

How far along? 26 weeks

Total weight gain/loss: +6 or 8 as of last appointment. GREAT!

A little about the baby at 26 weeks! By this week, your baby's crown-to-rump length is approximately 9.2 inches. Remember, that is only from the top of his head to his bottom and does not include his leg measurements! Your baby weighs almost 2 pounds and is beginning to put on weight. Your uterus is about 2.5 inches above your bellybutton and you will continue to grow approximately 1 cm each week. If you have been eating a well-balanced diet, you probably have gained about 16-22 pounds so far. Because your baby has moved further up, you may get occasional pain underneath your ribs. After a month of having his eyelids sealed shut, your baby begins to open his eyes again this week. Your baby's eyes are almost completely developed. Your baby's eyes are blue in the womb and may change colors later in life. This is true for all races because the pupils do not have their final color until a few months after birth. However, some babies are born with darker or lighter shades of blue. Your growing baby will continue to put on layers of fat until he is born. He is still lean at this point of the pregnancy though. By the time your baby is born, he will assume the typical newborn's plumpness. Your baby's skin will still be wrinkled and red, but the fat continues to fill the skin out. Finger and toe nails continue to grow. Blood vessels start to develop in the lungs to prepare the baby for life outside the uterus. Your baby's blood circulation is completely functional. The umbilical cord system continues to grow and thicken as blood travels with considerable force through the body to nurture the baby. The placenta is now almost equal in size to the baby. Even though it is still way too soon for your baby to be born yet, the chance of survival without severe abnormalities is now 70% provided it is born in a hospital.

PICTURES, Ultrasound

Here are a few pictures that I never uploaded, This was on 9/11/09 when we found out "IT'S A BOY" So here are a few more clips we got!!

The face one is kinda scary.... Your uterus is about 2 cm above your bellybutton and you probably feel comfortably pregnant. Your growing tummy is not yet large enough to get in the way and you should still be able to bend over and sit without much trouble. You might be enjoying your pregnancy more than ever at this point if morning sickness was an issue in the early weeks.

Your baby's body continues to grow and develop every day. The organ systems in your baby's body are becoming specialized for their particular functions. The fetal liver produces different enzymes than it will produce after delivery. The liver is responsible for breaking down billirubin, which is produced by the breaking down of blood cells. Because the life span of a fetal red blood cell is shorter than that of an adult, a fetus produces more billirubin than adults do. Billirubin passes from fetal blood to the placenta and then into your blood. Your liver helps get rid of fetal billirubin. A newborn baby that has high levels of billirubin may show signs of jaundice. Jaundiced babies have a yellowish tint to their eyes and skin and are often treated with phototherapy.

Your baby's senses are developing daily. The fetus now has a full complement of neurons in the brain and is learning about her body and surroundings through touch. Touch is one of the first senses to mature and your baby may stroke its face or feel her arms and legs.

Your blood volume has increased more to meet the demands of your pregnancy. Most of the increase is in the form of plasma, the liquid part of your blood. This has the ability to dilute your blood and give you physiological anemia, which occurs during pregnancy. The measure of blood dilution is called Hematocrit and the levels reach their lowest points this week. You should check with your doctor to make sure you are not developing more serious forms of anemia.

Your baby now shows an extremely rapid brain growth (which lasts until five years after birth).

The ovaries of female fetuses contain primitive egg cells, all of the eggs a woman will have for her entire life. The uterus of female fetuses is also fully formed."

21 Weeks 4 days...

I am 21 weeks and 4 days as of right now!

I'm thought since I'm pretty bad at this blog thing that i would do an update. So far, we are having an appointment with a new doctor on Friday! I'm excited to get to talk to someone i might like. I was not a fan at all of the doctor i saw the first go around, and my awesome mother said this doctor was good. So i will give her a shot.

We are hoping to get some good news from her, as far as our little one goes. We are hoping she may be able to give us some more info on the Chlorid Plexus Cysts our Little Man has on his brain. I'm not sure when we will be having another Ultrasound to see if they have gone away one their own or if they are still there. I hope we can get some good info to put my minds at ease.

I have been feeling pretty good, other than I feel HUGE. I'm not sure how much I have gained but I have been really good when it comes to eating healthy, so I hope its working. I started back on my swimming last week, and i hope i am able to keep it up.
My in laws have a pool, and since i work at the house next to theirs i figured i might as well go swim some laps. I have skipped out on the pool at the gym because its out right dirty.

I have been feeling our little one more and more each day which has made me feel a lot better knowing he must still be growing!! I'm so ready for Ryan to be able to feel him. I have had a few kicks that I'm sure could have been felt from outside, but when Ryan has his hands on the belly, he says he cant feel them. So i hope its soon.
Here are a few updated pictures, they are not the best, but its something!!
This one where I'm in the brown was taken right at 20 weeks... the one in the pink was taken at 21 weeks

* How far along?: 21 weeks 4 days
* How big is baby?: Between 12-15 ounces and 10.5 inches. So I'm just going to give one BIG run down.

Today I am 19 weeks 5 days, almost half way done with the pregnancy! can you believe it.... I cant!

Week 18 was pretty uneventful. My hips are not hurting as much if at all, so that's AWESOME!

Weeks 19 has been a HUGE emotional roller coaster. On 9/11/09 we had our BIG ULTRASOUND. We were so excited to find out that ITS A BOY!!!!!

So we found that out on Friday afternoon and then we went to dinner. On Sunday we had the whole family going to the LA County Fair to watch the Horse Races so we decided that this would be the place to tell everyone!

I went and got supplies to make something so everyone could open a gift that would tell them the good news.

So this is what we came up with....
Its nothing too crazy but they were fun to make. I made 5 that were similar to this one. I was going to get a picture of them all but i ran out of time before we had to leave...... Each on was a little different. Ryan also made hats for the Grandpas! They were super cute. My dad was a good participant and wore his most of the day! It was a fun trip and every one was super excited to hear about the little man.

There is so much we have to do now! We had not looked at anything till this weekend! we were waiting till we knew what we were having.
So let the shopping begin!!

SO AS FAR AS EMOTIONAL ROLLER COASTER.........

Here is the scary news.......
On Monday 9-14-09, I got a call from the genetics department at the hospital. She started to give me this speech...... she went over all the good things they were able to see in/on him and that there were somethings that did not look so good.

Well i knew by just getting a phone call that something was not good. After the Ultrasound they said, NO news was Good news.
So i just braced myself for what ever it may be.

She said they found several "Markers" on the babies brain that bring up concerns. She said there were "Choroid Plexus cysts". She said it could be one of two things. One, that it could be nothing. All the Cysts they saw could go away on their own. (The lady said this part really fast)
but spent a bunch of time going over the not so good part. She said 2. These Markers are signs of Trisomy 18. This is not a good thing at all.
She said the blood work I had done came back with good results 1 in 100,000,000 chance of having T18 and Downs. Well she said with the ultrasound findings, that our odds go to 1 in 1,500.

Wow. Let me take this all in......... She continued to tell me that there are cases that the babies don't make it full term and if they do, don't make it long after birth. SO SHE HAS ME FREAKING OUT!

She make it sound like babies with these markers almost always end up being T18 babies.

So I went home from work, had Ryan met me there and we spent the day together. Not doing anything at all, just being together in our home with our dogs was all we needed.
I mean, what else can you do. This is now just a waiting game.

Well after much research, our odds are looking good. In most cases the Cysts will just go away on their own, and the baby is fine, no abnormalities what so ever. SO OUR HOPES ARE HIGH.

I'm just staying away from all the info about T18 babies because that makes me so sad. But of course when that is one of your possible outcomes, no matter how big or small, its always in the back or your mind. So of course iv had my moments, but i pray we will be OK.

I have to wait till 10-2-09 to get my doctors Appointment to go over the results with someone face to face. That will make me feel better, I hope...... I will have another ultrasound between 23-32 weeks to check on our little man and see how he is doing. Our hopes are that most or all of the Cysts are gone!

BABY INFO

This is the baby Info for week 16 and 17, I think this is so cool!!
Everything that is going on with the baby is right here, and whats going on with the changes of ME!!!

WEEK 16

At this point of your pregnancy, your baby is approximately 4.3 to 4.6 inches long and weighs 2.8 ounces. Not only is your baby growing, your uterus and placenta continue to grow to accommodate the growing baby inside of you! Just six weeks ago, your uterus weighed about 5 ounces. This week it now weighs 8.75 ounces! The amniotic fluid that surrounds the baby is increasing and there is about 7.5 ounces of fluid. You will easily be able to feel your uterus approximately three inches below your navel.

This is an important week for testing and you will most likely have an AFP test done. This is a harmless blood test that is done to detect abnormalities such as Down's syndrome or spina bifida. This is a non-invasive test and it carries no risk to your developing baby. Most doctors will offer the test, but in most cases it is completely optional.

Your milk glands start production at this time and this causes some tenderness and swelling in early pregnancy. Your veins will become more visible because there is an increased amount of blood flowing to the breasts.

ive and a half inches tall and only six ounces in weight. The child can grasp with his hands, kick, or even somersault.

At this time, your baby is holding her head erect. Because her muscles are developing, she can make some faces now. Your baby is able to squint, frown and open its mouth. There is enough calcium in the bones that they will show up on an x-ray. Your baby's fingernails are well formed now and the legs are longer than the arms. Because your baby is moving well now, you may begin to feel his movements! Some women say that the early movements feel like gas bubbles or a slight flutter. If you have not yet felt the baby move, don't worry. Fetal movements are usually felt between the 16th and 20th week of pregnancy.

You may feel your heart beating 'louder'. This is because there is a lot more blood in your body than normal. (about 20-25% more)

WEEK 17

Your baby's weight has doubled in two weeks and now weighs about 3.5 ounces! The crown-to-rump length of your growing baby is 4.4 to 4.8 inches. If you spread your hand out opened wide, you can see about how big your baby is.

Your uterus is moving up and is now approximately 1.5 to 2 inches below your navel. You are showing more now and there is a noticeable swelling in your abdomen. At this point in your pregnancy, a 5 to 10 pound weight gain is normal. Other people can probably feel the difference in your lower abdomen if they were to rub your tummy. To be the most comfortable, you should be wearing maternity clothes or clothing that is too large for you. You may have felt your baby move already. However, you might not feel it move every day at this point. As your pregnancy progresses, movements become stronger and more frequent. Feeling your baby move can help reassure you that your baby is doing well. You might also notice that your gums or nose bleed occasionally. This is from the increased blood volume that puts pressure on small blood vessels and capillaries.

Huge changes continue to take place within your developing baby. This week fat begins to form and will continue to do so until he is born. Fat is important to the body's heat production and metabolism. Right now, at 17 weeks, water makes up about 3 ounces and fat 0.018 ounces of your baby's body. In a baby at term, fat makes up about 5.25 pounds of the total average weight of 7.7 pounds. The placenta is continuing to grow at an amazing rate. The placenta will continue to develop in tandem with the fetus and it will weigh more than a pound at birth! By this week, the placenta is large and well established with a network of blood vessels that exchange nutrients and waste.

The eyes are facing more forward. The ears are now close to their final position.

Your baby is more flexible with ability to move head, mouth, lips, arms, wrists, hands, legs, feet, and toes.

Fingerprints are forming now.

16 and 17 weeks!

WOW! Everything looked good. So far i have been feeling pretty good. My emotions have been under control! This is great, Im usually an emotional person, but really i have done a good job keeping things calm.

We started taking pictures this week of the belly, Well not yet a belly, more like a bloat. My clothes are a little tight, some days are better than others!

Our next appointment is for the NT scan, this will be at 12 weeks.
Here is what the NT scan is if you are not sure. It is an optional testing.

"This is a collection of fluid under the skin at the back of a baby's neck at 10-14 weeks that can be measured using ultrasound. All babies have some fluid, but in many babies with Down's syndrome, the nuchal translucency (NT) is increased.

An NT ultrasound is a method of assessing whether your baby is likely to have Down's syndrome. It's a screening test. A screening test can only estimate the risk of your baby having Down's, as opposed to a diagnostic test, such as CVS or amniocentesis, which will give you a definite diagnosis (but also carries a small risk of miscarriage).

The NT ultrasound can't tell for certain whether your baby is affected. However, it can help you decide whether or not to have a diagnostic test. In many cases, it is offered along with blood tests to determine fetal risk for certain abnormalities."

So this is going to be done at the next(which is today)and because we are young and have no family history Im sure we will be ok. If something comes back abnormal, we will love this baby no matter what.

Here is our baby and a belly picture to start with.

According to Thebump.com
Our baby is a PRUNE!
Baby's now the size of a prune!
With bones and cartilage starting to form and vital organs beginning to function, baby is making major progress. Body length will almost double in the next three weeks, and arm joints are now working.
